PPG Projects named as approved contractor on Football Foundation’s Floodlight Fund

Football Pitch

We’re delighted to announce that PPG Projects has been named as an approved contractor on the Football Foundation’s Floodlight Fund, which will see significant investment in floodlit pitches across the UK and support the long-term growth of the sport at grassroots level over the coming years.

The Football Foundation is the official charity aligned to the government, the FA and the Premier League, with the goal of supporting communities with improving their local football facilities through targeted grants.

This unique partnership has transformed a wide range of facilities over the past twenty years – including purchasing goal posts, investing in storage containers for increasing equipment capacity, installing portable floodlights and improving pavilions and clubhouses.

Over £1.8 billion worth of projects have been delivered so far, with the ambition of improving 20,000 grass pitches over the next ten years, alongside the installation of 1,000 new 3G facilities and 1,000 new pavilions.

The charity’s Floodlight Fund “will support the upgrading of metal halide (‘halogen’) floodlights on Football Foundation-funded floodlit football turf pitches (FTPs) to LED floodlights to reduce energy consumption and save money.”

It is estimated that clubs and organisations could save £8,000 per full-size 3G football turf pitch, per year, based on typical energy usage. The Floodlight Fund would provide grants covering up to 70% of the cost of retrofitting existing infrastructure with LED replacements.

Our team brings a wealth of experience to the sports lighting sector, with previous projects including the installation of energy-saving LED floodlights at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground stadium, as well as Wycombe Wanderers’ Adams Park stadium.

We also specialise in fully integrated turnkey solutions for mechanical and electrical, lightning and renewable projects, with our sports sector delivery areas covering design, installation and commissioning, and maintenance, with experience of LED upgrades for both indoor and outdoor arenas.

Speaking about being named on the Football Foundation’s Floodlight Fund, our Managing Director Luke Handley said, “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us, and aligns perfectly with our goals of growing our portfolio in the sporting arena while enhancing the infrastructure that exists for clubs and local communities as part of the future success of sport in the UK,”

Luke continues, “The Football Foundation does amazing work in partnership with the government, FA and Premier League to enhance the infrastructure that exists at grassroots level,”

“It’s only by investing at this level of the sport that the wider football pyramid can thrive – supporting the development clubs and young talent while providing first class facilities for local communities to enjoy,”

“We can’t wait to see how this partnership develops over the coming years and look forward to partnering with the Football Foundation and its stakeholders on an ongoing basis.” he concludes.
