South Northumberland Cricket Club / North East Cricket Academy
Project location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Project Background Brief:
As part of a refurbishment project of the Indoor Cricket Centre at South Northumberland Cricket Club, PPG Projects partnered with Durant Cricket to design, supply and install a high-specification LED Cricket Lighting to meet the ECB standards for National/International level Cricket.
Upon completion, the installation was independent tested and reviewed by the club and ECB Lighting Consultant to verify that the standard were achieved.
The new LED lighting system features a number of state-of-the-art features, including:
- Uniform light distribution across the playing surface, meeting the ECB’s strict requirements for National/International level Cricket
- High color rendering index (CRI), which provides accurate color reproduction for players and spectators
- Glare-free lighting, which reduces eye fatigue and improves player performance
- Energy efficiency, which reduces the club’s operating costs
Additional benefits of the new LED lighting system:
- Long lifespan: LED lights typically last for 50,000 hours or more, compared to 2,000 hours or less for traditional lamps. This reduces the need for regular maintenance and replacement, saving the club time and money.
- Reduced heat output: LED lights produce less heat than traditional lamps, which helps to keep the indoor cricket centre cooler and more comfortable for players and spectators.
- Improved environmental impact: LED lights are more energy-efficient than traditional lamps, which reduces the club’s carbon footprint and helps to protect the environment.
