Project Background Brief:
Nestled in a picturesque setting, Eastgate Tennis Club aimed to upgrade its aging lighting infrastructure to provide a superior playing environment while reducing energy consumption and operational costs. The club partnered with PPG Projects to deliver a comprehensive modernisation project. This involved replacing outdated components, installing energy- efficient LED luminaires, and ensuring compliance with Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) lighting standards.
Particular Challenges:
The first phase involved identifying and safely disconnecting redundant electrical components located at the bases of the lighting columns and other relevant areas. Obsolete swan neck brackets and green box luminaires were removed to clear the way for the new system.
To accommodate the modern LED luminaires, PPG Projects designed and specified customised brackets. These were tailored to fit the existing 8-meter lighting columns, ensuring the secure and optimal placement of the new fixtures.
The centrepiece of the upgrade was the installation of 42 state-of-the-art 600W QVIS LED luminaires across 26 columns. Each unit was carefully positioned to achieve LTA-compliant lighting levels, enhancing visibility and the overall playing experience for members.
After installation, all electrical circuits were reconnected to the new luminaires. A meticulous commissioning process was undertaken to verify functionality, confirm alignment with project specifications, and ensure seamless operation from the outset.
Upon project completion, all waste materials were responsibly disposed of, and the site was restored to a clean and orderly condition, reflecting PPG Projects commitment to sustainability.
