Project Background Brief:
PPG Projects were contracted for the electrical refurbishment of Europcar Mobility Group’s UK new headquarters building at No.1 Great Central Square, Leicester. These Project works were over three floors and encompassed the entire 16,752 square feet of Europcar’s new flagship headquarters.
Europcar were relocating from their old offices in Leicester and their requirements for the refurbishment were exacting, to create a particular ‘style’ of office environment, while offering its workforce a comfortable setting which they could feel ‘at home’ to work in.
Particular Challenges:
The electrical installation included new LED lighting with automatic occupancy detection to ensure an annual cost saving, emergency LED lighting compliant to BS5266, power provision to all offices and communal areas. This included floor boxes for power & data provision to open-area offices and conventional surface-mounted recessed fittings for the meeting rooms and segregated offices, mechanical power supplies for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and building maintenance.
The fire detection and alarm system was updated to include additional heat and smoke sensors, sounders and manual call points. For compliance to current regulations, the updated system was then interlinked to the entire building’s systems to coordinate the entire buildings’ notification in the event of an emergency.
Special Project Features:
The entire Project works were scheduled for 14 weeks, which is exactly the type of works that the PPG Projects excel at. With an accelerated program of works, we were able to draw on our experienced workforce to provide skilled electricians at short notice to ensure that the installation progressed within the Clients timeframe.
While the installation progressed, we were also providing coordination services to the other disciplines on site to ensure the installation of all the services followed the program of works. This displays that the PPG Projects has the skills, ability, knowledge and experience to complete any Projects works to the Clients satisfaction.
As a testament to our services, the Client has invited us back several times to install additional electrical services to further enhance the working environment.
