Ormskirk Tennis Club, West Lancashire

Project Background Brief:
Ormskirk Tennis Club has two floodlight courts, using 4no 10m Lighting Columns and 8no 2kW metal halide floodlights. The club were subject to regular costly maintenance in replacing ignitors, ballasts and lamps, so commissioned PPG Projects for an LED Lighting Upgrade using high-quality Tennis Luminaires with a 10-year warranty.
Particular Challenges:
Access to the columns was restricted by fencing and single gate access hampered access equipment options. For two of the columns, these were located behind the perimeter fencing, with the control gear cabinets located behind the fencing but before public fencing segregating the club from a School. The team liaised with the client and its fencing contractor to temporarily remove the fencing which allowed access to all work areas, before re-securing it. Narrow access equipment was sourced from our supply chain to allow working on the courts and columns for the LED Retrofit.
Special Project Features:
We utilised two different optics with the Modus S luminaires, both with spill control in mind but to achieve the LTA Recommended Lighting Levels. These were the medium beam and wide beam spill control luminaires.
