Rothamsted Research Centre
Project location: Harpenden
Project Background Brief:
PPG Projects, in Partnership with INDO Lighting, were invited to tender for a Horticulture LED Retrofit project at the world renowned Rothamsted Research centre.
By offering competitive pricing and a 10-year warranty, in addition to products that fully meet the required specification, PPG Projects Horticulture Lighting Team secured this opportunity in partnership with INDO. The procured scope of works was to carry out a full LED Horticulture Lighting Retrofit, also replacing the MCB’s and Contactors for appropriate compatible solutions with the new Lighting.
Particular Challenges:
The project delivery phase was scheduled for two weeks, which considering the volume of luminaires and scope of works was a tough ask. As this was our client’s requirement and expectation, we created a programme of works on this basis which utilised concurrent working with multiple project teams working in separate areas to reduce the project timescales. Obviously as this was a live facility the requirement for advanced planning and client communication was imperative, to allow their operations to continue without disruption.
Special Project Features:
Rothamsted Research centre is a world renewed leading institute for both plants and crops which is over 200 years old. The product range we specified on this project, was both dimmable but also featured colour control which allows the user to alter the colour to the best suited spectrum for the associated plant/crop, allowing better and more efficient growth.
